Cruise Port Safety & Timing Tips

– Always return 1 hour before all-aboard
– Account for traffic delays
– Book excursions with cruise ship
– Pre-book major attractions when possible
– Wear comfortable walking shoes
– Keep itinerary flexible in case of delays

What NOT to Do

– Don’t try to see everything in one visit
– Don’t book long tours far outside the main town area
– Don’t rely on last-minute tickets for popular attractions
– Don’t underestimate travel time back to port

What I’d Prioritize

If I returned to Portland again while on a cruise, I’d take an excursion to Durdle Door – a famous, naturally formed limestone arch on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, England. This was my first time visiting this port, and it was hard to find information online to know what to expect before arriving. This would be my first stop on my next visit.
